Physiotherapy as a part of the complex training of younger school aged figure skaters
SLIPKOVÁ, Lenka
The bachelor thesis dedicates to figure skating and inclusion of physiotherapy into comprehensive training of younger school figure skaters. Figure skating is often considered as a sports discipline combining physical fitness and artistic elements. Due to early specialization, general physical fitness is often neglected and high demands are placed on young figure skaters. Physiotherapy protects athletes from unwanted injuries or pathologies. The first part of this bachelor thesis deals with theoretical knowledge about the history, division of competitions and equipment. The second part of the theoretical part includes the risks of this sport and the most important figure-skaters´ muscle groups. Most of the thesis consists of a qualitative research that includes selected methods and procedures into the comprehensive training of school-age figure skaters and evaluates their effectiveness. The practical part contains initial examination and exit examination, exercise unit and comparison of results. The results of the case study show that physiotherapeutic methods and procedures are effective for figure skaters and they should be included in the comprehensive training. This thesis can be an inspiration particularly for sports physiotherapists in figure skating, and it can also serve as an educational material for autotherapy.
Possibilities of compensatory exercises for young figure skaters
HUMLEROVÁ, Veronika
The bachelor thesis deals with the problem of posture of young figure skaters and compensatory exercise, which serves to prevent or remedy early functional movement disorders. The first aim of this bachelor thesis is to design and create a program of compensatory exercise for young figure skaters according to the assessment of the musculoskeletal load. The second aim is to evaluate its effectiveness in a selected group of figure skaters and the final goal is to create an educational booklet for autotherapy. The bachelor thesis is divided into theoretical and practical part. The theoretical part contains information on the fundamentals and rules of compensation exercises. The thesis also outlines general information and history of figure skating, the most common muscle imbalance and the most common functional disorders of the musculoskeletal system in figure skating. The practical part includes the methodology, which was elaborated in the form of qualitative research and four girls from the synchronized skating section in Jihlava are part of the research. The research includes the anamnesis that was taken in the form of a semi-structured interview and a kinesiological examination. Subsequently, from this information were created casuistries and according to their assessment, I suggested and created an exercise unit of compensatory exercises. After a few weeks in the range of 2-3 months, I evaluated the effectiveness of this exercise. This thesis can be used as a source of information on the most common functional problems that young figure skaters often encounter. It can also be used as educational material for physiotherapists, coaches or figure skaters themselves.
The relation of laterality and selection of rotation direction in U12 figure skaters
Hájková, Klára ; Sedláčková, Marie (advisor) ; Musálek, Martin (referee)
Title: The relation of laterality and selection of rotation direction in figure skating at children in preschool and younger school age Objectives: The aim of the thesis is to construct a test battery on the ice surface, to assess the laterality, i. e. the preferred lower limb and the preferred side of rotation and turning, for beginning figure skaters in preschool and younger school age. Subsequently, individual items of this test battery are examined with items from the standardized test battery for the child population aged 8-10 years, according to Musálek (2013). The relationships of individual test items are determined in order to determine whether the individual test items on the ice surface can be used to represent a relatively reliable tool for determining the rotation direction of a beginning figure skater. Methods: We use testing by standardized battery of tests according to Musálek (2013) for the diagnosis of motor manifestations of laterality for children aged 8-10. Next is used testing by created test battery on the ice surface, which should fulfill the purpose of demonstrate the preferred lower limb, or the preferred side of rotation and turning. Results: Test battery created for use on the ice surface shows some reliability only for test items that are designed to express the...
Biomechanical characteristics in Axel Paulsen jump variations in figure skating
Hrdličková, Kristýna ; Sedláčková, Marie (advisor) ; Šteffl, Michal (referee)
Title: Biomechanical characteristics in Axel Paulsen jump variations in figure skating Objectives: The aim of this thesis was to measure the biomechanical characteristics (height and length) of the single Axel Paulsen jump. The jump was measured from two inputs, namely from a standing position (from zero initial velocity) and from a running position (from a single backward translation). Methods: For the thesis, a quantitative research method was used, namely the measurement of selected parameters of the Axel Paulsen single jump. The measurements were performed on a sample of 16 female figure skaters, in the age range of 10 -16 years. Bar graphs were created for each variable as part of the analysis. The best trials were always selected for quantitative analysis. Furthermore, means and standard deviations were calculated. Due to the size of the measured sample, non-parametric methods were used to test the hypotheses. The Wilcoxon matched pairs test was used, and error plots were generated. Data analysis and graphs were created using IBM SPSS Statistics 24 statistical software. Results: It was found that the single Axel Paulsen jump length values are longer in the run-up version. For the Axel Paulsen single jump height values, it was found that the jump height on the average is 0.5 cm higher in the...
